Rich Rodriguez Claws Wolverines One More Time

Rich Rodriguez has not set foot on a Michigan sideline since 2010 but he continues to drive the stake through maize and blue hearts. Rodriguez was successful at West Virginia, oversaw the collapse of a program at Michigan, and now he's reviving the Wildcats down in Arizona. Perfect timing huh?

Michigan, inflamed in national controversy and protests every five paces in Ann Arbor, is looking at Rich Rodriguez's picture and shedding tears as if he was a lover they let go of too soon. Orchestrating perhaps the biggest upset of the week at Oregon, Rodriguez and the Wildcats stunned the college football world and flipped the playoff picture on it's head. This could have been Rich Rod at Michigan but it wasn't meant to be. It's left Wolverines scratching their heads as to why Rich Rod couldn't have done it at Michigan. Most Wolverines hated Rodriguez for plunging their once powerhouse program into mediocrity. Some thought Rodriguez was let go of before he got his chance to prove himself.

At Michigan, there is no room for patience; it's either win now or go. Rodriguez never got his chance to implicate his system at Michigan. His spread offense and sparse defense never carried him far and wouldn't in the Big Ten. Michigan couldn't handle the the shootouts with the players Rodriguez inherited but; given the opportunity to deploy his attack with his kind of recruits like he has at Arizona and did at WVU, the Wolverines might be in the position that Arizona now holds. Rodriguez I'll continue to drown Michigan from afar. Maybe the problem wasn't Rodriguez. Maybe it was Michigan. Maybe it's karma.

Good Luck Ann Arbor.
